Upaya “By Pass” Pengguna Facebook dan Twitter yang Diblokir di Mesir

Jaringan Internet di Mesir mengalami gangguan parah, disebabkan sebuah gerakan protes yang mengakar-rumput dengan adanya demonstrasi besar menuntut pengusiran Presiden Hosni Mubarak setelah hampir 30 tahun berkuasa. Anehnya, stasiun-stasiun televisi milik pemerintah di Mesir tidak menyiarkan demo besar-besaran ini.

Otomatis trafik drastis merosot, baik pengguna Facebook atau Twitter. Lantas apa hubungannya jejaring sosial di Mesir hingga diblokir seperti itu? Karena memang banyak sekali user yang berorasi dan melakukan protes via dua jejaring sosial itu. Semua itu terinspirasi dari pemerintahan Tunisia yang berhasil digulingkan melalui revolusi berdarah beberapa waktu kemarin.

Pemerintah Mesir memang memiliki departemen khusus yang mengawasi pergerakan di internet. Di Mesir warga sipil ekstra hati-hati membuka situs internet. Semua informasi ‘dimonitor’ oleh pemerintah. Memang terdapat polisi khusus yang memantau dunia maya. Telah banyak rakyat Mesir yang ditangkap oleh polisi gara-gara menulis yang tidak-tidak tentang pemerintah di internet, terutama Facebook.

Nah…. Lantas bagaimana upaya yang dilakukan para netter melakukan “by pass” alias bebas hambatan, bisa terus melakukan aktifitas nge-net padahal jelas2 pemerintah telah ‘membunuhnya’?

Ternyata para users ‘bermain cantik’ dan cerdas. Mereka membuka pemblokiran melalui server proxy dan aplikasi pihak ketiga atau third-party apps.

Berikut cara mereka melakukannya…

1)   Menggunakan smartphone, semisal Blackberry dengan UberTwitter warga sipil masih bisa ber-social network.

2)   Menggunakan third-party applications, semisal TweetDeck dan HootSuite. Mereka yang diblokir masih bisa update status dengan kedua aplikasi pihak ketiga tersebut.

Namun pengguna HootSuite baru jangan harap bisa menggunakannya karena harus melakukan otentikasi via twitter.com yang jelas sekali terblokir. Lain halnya dengan pengguna iPhone, karena tidak memerlukan sebuah otentikasi web. Pengguna baru HootSuite dengan iPhone bisa dengan mudah masuk twitter.com.
